OUR STORY

Our first dog, Marty, was a rescue from a Michigan puppy mill. He was in dire need of someone to nurse him back to health and to offer him a forever home. We were so happy to welcome him into our family. He was reserved in front of other people and dogs as there was no doubt that he was a victim of abuse. However, he found comfort in a quiet home and plenty of nature to explore. One of Marty’s favorite things to do was to keep an eye out for his nemesis, the squirrel. On our walks, just the mention of “Look! Squirrel!” caused him to jump into prey/play mode with his eyes wide open, ears perked up, and his nose ready to go! During downtime, he had a room with a view. The squirrels would visit the bird feeder on the other side of the window. That was his favorite past time, when we were busy. We truly feel confident that we gave him a better life, and we want to continue doing that for other dogs, in his memory.
